Vladislav Markov, This message was deleted, 2025
For the 11th edition of Material Art Fair in Mexico City, Management is pleased to present a selection of works by Vladislav Markov. Having recently exhibited 6 large paintings in the 15th Gwangju Biennale, curated by legendary French curator Nicolas Bourriaud, we are proud to bring two paintings from that presentation to Mexico City.
Vladislav Markov works in immersive installation, sculpture, and painting, rendering objects in an unfamiliar ontological state to challenge the viewer’s perception. His procedural gestures result in an altered version of a readymade by shifting its state from digital to physical and back again. Markov’s paintings reference this complex process of dissociation by obscuring quotidian subjects in a process of digitally re-creating them from low-fidelity photogrammetry scans, transposing the viewer into a liminal mental space where the distance from perception to recognition becomes impossible to traverse.
Markov holds a BFA from Parsons School of Design and an MFA from Cornell University. Recent solo exhibitions include Blood thinner, low-dose aspirin, best painkillers for kids at The Address, Brescia, Italy; Eight Feet Under at Management, New York; Vladislav Markov (solo) at M 23, New York; Extra Medium at Spazio Orr, Brescia, Italy. Recent group exhibitions include the 15th Gwangju Biennale, South Korea; ç, International Objects, New York; eddy., M 23, New York; -itis, Cornell University, New York; Markov’s work has been written about in Artforum, Flash Art Italia, Numero Berlin, Elle Japan, and other publications. Markov will have his second solo exhibition at Management in September 2025.
